PSA is a protein made by the prostate gland. Levels rise with inflammation, enlargement, and in some cases cancer, making it a valuable screening tool for men focused on proactive prostate health.

⚠️ Important Note About PSA Testing

PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is a valuable marker for assessing prostate health, but it comes with important limitations—and context is everything.

We recommend that PSA testing be done for the first time in consultation with your primary healthcare provider. This is because PSA levels can rise for many reasons that are not related to cancer, including; Benign prostate enlargement (BPH), Prostate inflammation (prostatitis), Recent ejaculation or vigorous exercise, Urinary infections or even something as simple as cycling

These factors can result in false positives, leading to unnecessary stress, repeat testing, or in some cases, overtreatment. A high PSA result does not mean you have prostate cancer, and many men with elevated levels have no serious underlying condition.

PSA testing can be a useful part of your longevity and preventive health strategy—especially if you have urinary symptoms or a family history of prostate issues—but it should be interpreted carefully and never in isolation.

If you're considering PSA testing for the first time, we strongly encourage doing so alongside your GP or urologist, who can provide the proper context, monitor trends over time, and advise on any necessary next steps.
